Some suspected kidnappers in Zamfara have allegedly rejected the payment of ransom made through old Naira note.
Few days back kidnappers abducted four people from Kolo village in Gusau local government area of the State.
Among those kidnapped include a man, woman and two orphans from the village mentioned above.
AIT one of the national media outfits in Nigeria reported that, “Locals says, the kidnappers originally demanded for N10 million naira as ransom, but after negotiation, they agreed to accept N5 million.
But the bandits allegedly rejected the ransom of five million naira which were paid in old Naira note and insisted that, the ransom has to be paid in new redesigned naira note.
According to the locals, while effort is being made to raise the money and secure the release of the abductees, the bandits allegedly called and demanded for payment in new naira notes.
Effort to speak to the police spokesperson in Zamfara SP Shehu Muhammad was not successful as at the time of filing this story.
