The leader of Sen. Kabiru Garba Marafa political movement, Surajo Garba Maikatako has refuted a claim by Minister Bello Matawalle that he has assisted Sen. Marafa by anointing him as the senatorial candidate for APC in the 2023 general election.
Mai Katako in a video that is viral on social media insisted that, Matawalle defected to the APC and met Sen. Marafa as one of the APC party leaders and that as against the insinuation by Minister Matawalle it was agreement reached at the party consensus level that allow Marafa to pick the party ticket in 2023.
He further alleged that just to woe the Senator, Minister Matawalle had once offered a house worth over a billion Naira to Sen. Marafa in Abuja as a gift, but he declined the offer.
He also alleged that Matawalle had at another time offered a contract worth over a billion naira to Sen. Marafa but refused the contract for reasons best known to him.
He added that decisions by Sen. Marafa to decline these offers had caused serious friction that caused the political movement of Marafa to loss close to 50% of its supporters.
Mai Katako also alleged that even the post of Commissioner offered to one of them, Abu Doctor, was not done on the instant request of Sen. Marafa but an agreement between Abu Doctor and the Minister in Abuja.
He recalled that he acknowledged the fact that he was appointed by the former Governor as Permanent Commissioner of Pilgrims Board and that as the leader of the Marafa political team he had personally requested for some positions on behalf of their supporters but never influenced by Sen. Marafa.
He recalled how the struggle by Sen. Marafa against the injustice by Yari then led to a court ruling which brought Matawalle as a Governor of Zamfara which he said is enough for Matawalle to appreciate the effort or Sen. Marafa
