Former Governor of Zamfara state and Senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial district, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has set aside 496 trucks of assorted food items for distribution to 280,000 beneficiaries under this year’s Ramadan Welfare Package across Zamfara state.
Chairman of the state distribution committee who doubles as the head, Sen. Yari Political Organization, Lawal M Liman, Gabdon Kaura dropped the hint on Wednesday after a strategic planning meeting with the members of the state and Local government distribution committees in Gusau, the State Capital.
According to the statement by Publicity Secretary of the political support group Ibrahim Muhammad Birnin Magaji , the commodities consist of, 187 trucks each of Maize and Millet, 93 trucks of Rice and 29 trucks of Sugar.
The statement added that, each local government will receive 36 trucks of different commodities to 20,000 beneficiaries with an average of 1500 beneficiaries from each of the 147 Wards in the state.
The gesture according to Hon. Liman is to cater for the less privileged, orphans and widows left with children irrespective of political or party affiliation.
He stressed that, Senator Abdulaziz Yari is determined to ensure the upkeep of his people at all times, adding that there is the need for unity of purpose and constant prayers for the success of the program.
Hon. Lawal M Liman further disclosed that the distribution exercise will commence on the first day of Ramadan throughout the State.
