Zamfara State Commissioner for Information Muhammad Dantawasa has reacted to the outcries by Zamfara workers over their dissatisfaction with the implementation of the N70,000 new minimum wages.
Dantawasa who spoke to the BBC Hausa service on Thursday, said what Governor Dauda has done is to fulfil the pledge of implementing N70,000 as the minimum wage not reviewing salaries of civil servants.
He explained that, when Governor Dauda Lawal came on board, he met the salaries of Zamfara workers at minimum benchmark of N7,000 and instantly raised it to N30,000 and now N70,000 as promised.
He lamented that the whole confusion arises because some workers misunderstood the whole arrangement regarding minimum wages to a review where some workers will get N70,000 and the rest.
