The Zamfara State High Court presided over by Justice Bello Tukur Gummi has adjourned until April 14th the hearing of fundamental human right suit filed against the Inspector General of Police by Zamfara State government.
Others joined in the suit includes the Stafe Commissioner of Police, Federal lawmaker representing Maru and Bungudu Abdulmalik Zubairu Zannan Bungudu and two others.
The matter is in respect of the alleged illegal arrest of some members of the Community Protection Guards (CPG) by the police, allegedly based on the alleged influence of Zamfara federal lawmaker Abdulmalik Zubairu Zannan Bungudu.
It was a case brought by the state Ministry of Justice based on the need for the enforcement of the fundamental human rights of the CPG members allegedly arrested.
The case which was slated for hearing on Monday, the 7th day of April 2025 could not proceed as the police prayed for an adjournment to enable them file their appropriate responses to the applications entered into the court by the applicants.
Justice Bello Gummi based on the prayers by the police, agreed to adjourn the matter until the 14th day of April 2025 to allow for the Inspector General and police and other defendants to file their responses.
