Driving through the popular Danmarke, Ruwan Doruwa, Kanoma Road one will be glaringly convinced that, life has changed for the people of that area. At least if not for anything, they can move to meet their daily social and economic needs with relative ease as their only 29 kilometers of access road has been given a new shape by the state government.
The 29 kilometers which links over five different communities is going to cost the state a total sum of 2.76 billion naira and the project is at 50% completion level according to the data by the State Commissioner for Works and Transport Alh Ibrahim Isah Mayana.

For thunder blowers the decision to reshape this road is a wise and popular one which will surely change the pattern of things in those communities.
Our only concern is for the Ministry of Works to ensure strict compliance to the project specifications as agreed between the contractor and government in order to avoid the experience of the pass when road projects worth billions of naira are executed and get spoiled in couple of months after they are handed over to the government due to poor execution and supervision.

Again, it is imperative for the government especially the state ministry of works to be considerate of providing drainages where new roads are constructed so that, water and erosion will not destroy these roads so early.
Where these drainages are provided, also measures should be put in place to making sure that, peoole did not turn them to refuse dumps because that also affects our huge investment in roads especially township roads.

I think we should learn from the lessons of what happened from the Chinese debacle with Zamfara state government over Anka, Bukkuyum and Gummi township road of which EFCC is now investigating over payment without execution of work.
The Commissioner for works and Transport should advise the government to pay contractors according to the valuation certificate till the job is completed so that incidences like the Chinese debacle should not happen to us again.

As for the quality of the road project executed from Danmarke to Kanoma, it is attested to be of high quality and as such, we commended the government for doing the right thing and urged the supervising ministry not to compromise standard.
