A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Sani Abdullahi Wamban Shinkafi has threatened to back out of the APC and support the Governorship candidate of an alternative party if APC enforces a Governorship candidate from Zamfara West Senatorial District.
Wamban Shinkafi in a viral video on social media said it will amount to injustice for APC to think of enforcing Governorship candidates from Zamfara West in 2027 because the other Senatorial zones have the rights to be considered for the Governorship position.
He stated that out of (26) years since return to civil rule in 1999 Zamfara West has been occupying the Governorship position pointing that of Governor Dauda Lawql finishes his first term of four years both Zamfara North and central had an opportunity of only serving the Governorship posts for four years only each.
He lamented that even within Zamfara West it was only the old Talatar Mafara local government which comprises Mafara, Bakura and Maradun thar have dominated the Governorship post denying Gummi, Bukkuyum and Anka the opportunity to also try their luck.
Wambai insisted that it’s either him or another person from Zamfara North or else he back out of the APC since it’s not a religious obligation mounted unto a person to remain in the APC.
When asked if he may likely join political forces with Governor Dauda Lawal in the PDP Wambai said since he is buying for the position of the Governor in 2027 the issue of joining forces with Governor Dauda Lawql does not arise because Dauda may likely be buying for Governor too and if he (Wambai) opted to join forces with Governor Dauda Lawal in PDP then which position is he going to award to him.
He insisted that it either APC do the right thing by allowing the Governorship candidate of the party in 2027 to be from either Zamfara central or Zamfara North, or it will be shown the way out.
