The Zamfara State Chapter of Jama’atul Izalatul Bidi’ah Wa’ikamiti Sunnah has called on the spokesperson of Zamfara Governor Sulaiman Bala Idris to withdraw statement he made regarding the murder of one of the prominent Islamic clerics of the group late Liman Musa Abubakar Mada.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of the group in Zamfara Aliyu Na’Allah Zurmi and shared with journalists in Gusau on Friday.
The group said it has aligned its position with the statement made by the Commandant of Community Protection Guards (CPG) Col. Rabiu Garba (rtd) where he acknowledged the fact that two of his men who were finger-pointed have been arrested.
They therefore condemned the statement issued by the spokespersons of the Governor Sulaiman Bala Bello where according to them, “he tried to defend the culprits”.
They also cautioned government officials of Zamfara against encroaching on duties of trained professionals.
‘The statement also urged the governor’s spokesperson to stop encroaching into other people’s duty and be wary of delicate issues of this nature’.
‘As an Islamic organization, we remind the spokesperson to fear Allah and speak the truth, as he will be held accountable in the hereafter’ the statement added.
“We extend heartfelt condolences to the family of Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada, praying for his soul’s eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus”.
‘JIBWIS Zamfara State urges the authorities to expedite the investigation, expose the perpetrators, and ensure justice is done to the families of the deceased’.
It could be recalled that since the murder of Imam Hassan Mada by some suspected armed personnel, controversy erupted as to who killed the Islamic cleric.
Some sources said those that killed the Islamic cleric came to Made his hometown, dressed in CPG uniforms and invited him for questioning before his dead body was eventually found at the outskirt of the town.
The Commandant of the Community Protection Guards, Col. Rabiu Garba Yandoto was reported by different media platforms including Thunder Blowers to have said that two of his men were arrested in connection with the murder.
He added that as Commandant he has never issued a warrant for the arrest of the late cleric and as such he might not know on whose instructions the two suspected members of the CPG acted in killing the victims.
He promised that they would investigate the matter and hand over the suspects for prosecution.
But the same day the Governor’s Spokesperson Sulaiman Bala Idris released a statement contradicting the earlier interview granted by the CPG commandant that the act was carried out by the members of the vigilante group, not Community Protection Guards as widely alleged.
