Former Governor of Zamfara Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa and Senator Sahabi Ya’u Kaura have won their respective APC Senatorial tickets in a primary election conducted in their respective constituencies on Saturday.
Governor Bello Matawalle alongside party officials and some members of the state executive council witnesses the exercise, which was conducted peacefully across the three senatorial zones.
APC officials from the National headquarters alongside INEC officials also supervised the exercise.
Security personnel had also mounted their operatives to ensure that there is no breach of peace throughout the exercise.
Former Govenor Yari who was unopposed scored a total of (317) votes according to the National returning officer Alh Shehu Kagara.
In the two other zones namely Zamfara Central and Zamfara North Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa and Sen. Sahabi Alh Yau emerged victorious in the polls.
While Governor Bello Matawalle went to Zamfara West to witness the exercise, Deputy Governor Hassan Muhammad Nasiha and Speaker Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya were at Zamfara Central and North to witness the exercise on behalf of the state party structure.
In a brief remark on the exercise, Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle thanked Allah for bringing unity in the party, which he said resulted into the peaceful conduct of the party primaries in the state.
