This piece is written to raise discussion about the possible fear Zamfara APC has entertained for resorting to instituting a legal action asking for the stoppage of the scheduled local government council polls.
Just like many political observers of Zamfara politics said, APC Zamfara should have proceeded to begin the process of nominating their consensus candidates to contest the poll even while they have some issues pending to challenge in court.
Hiding under a legal action to stay away from participating in the scheduled local government election will simply result to telling people that the party is entertaining fear of “suffering a defeat” in the hand of the PDP.
I argued in different fora that it is better for the APC to join the race and be manipulated out by the ruling PDP than to hide under a legal action instituted to refuse to join the race.
This refusal will surely kill the morale of the APC supporters in Zamfara whose confidence will continue to be blink up to the time of 2027 election.
I used to make reference to the bye election in Bakura during the regime of Bello Matawalle former Governor of Zamfara now Minister of State Defense, Sen. Yari knew very well that Matawalle and his PDP team may manipulate him out of the election at all cost, but he built the confidence of his people by raising political dust from the period of campaign to that of election.
At that time when the Bakura bye election was concluded every supporter of Yari was confident that APC can defeat PDP hands down by winning the 2023 election when the time comes.
This is the kind of confidence Zamfara APC should have to display to strengthen the heart of their supporters by going into the race without mincing the outcome.
Now the question everyone is asking, what if the court ruled against the position of the APC and ask ZASIEC to proceed with the scheduled polls?.
That will be on the 13th of November 2024 three days to the election date. Can APC join the election without adequate preparation within three days.
I think that may not be possible
What is the way out if this delay tactics deployed by the APC Zamfara? I think only time and the outcome of the case they filed can determine.
