Members of Zamfara state APC belonging to the faction of Sen. Kabiru Garba Marafa have conducted their local government parallel congress on Saturday.
This medium gathered that Marafa supporters from across the fourteen local government areas of the state congregated at various locations in their domains and conducted their election.
The congress went smoothly in all the local governments except in Gusau and Tsafe where some crises were recorded.
According to a source, armed police officers conveyed via six hilux vans came to the Gusau Marafa campaign office at the early hours of Saturday and ordered that the police authorities have banned the two factions of the APC from conducting the party congress.
The supporters of Marafa objected to their explanation, noting that if that decision was taken, there should have been formal communication to their leaders since they have written to the police commissioner and area commander and their notice was dully acknowledged.
The source added that supporters stood their ground that unless police were able to present a copy of the ban notice from the police authorities, they would go on with their congress
He added that, after hot debate and argument, the armed police men left the scene and the congress went on.
The sources added that, few minutes later some group of political thugs came around Lalan round about armed with weapons and attempted to invade the venue but supporters of Marafa became alerted and resisted the plan.
He added that, the congress for Gusau local government was later conducted and winners were declared via affirmative system.
This medium also gathered that similar crises occurred at Tsafe campaign office of Senator Marafa as APC flags were crashed down by some suspected bandits.
