The Zamfara State ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced itself from the allegation made by the state Commissioner for rural development and cooperative, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi, against the federal government over paying more attention to controlling COVID-19 than banditry in the state.
In a statement by the Secretary of the PDP Zamfara State chapter, Alhaji Hashimu Modomawa, “The Commissioner is a member of APC and part of Governor Matawalle’s cabinet due to the all inclusive nature of the government as initiated by the Governor to cater for all shade of political opinion”.
The statement further lamented the unguided utterances which it claimed could undermine the objective of the inclusive government and set the state and federal government into total misunderstanding and formidable head on collision especially on developmental policies.
“On the aspect of armed banditry, the federal government has already done enough for the state in combating the menace and other related crimes through establishments of 1Brigade of Nigerian Army, 207 Quick Response group of Nigerian Airforce.
“Also the establishment of the vibrant Joint Task Force (JTF) code named ‘Operation Hadarin Dajin’ which the good people of Zamfara state remained grateful to the federal government, added with the State Government’s Peace Initiative which drastically reduced the level of killings by the bandits in the state”, the statement has noted.
On the issue pertaining covid-19, the statement said the Tate government has been collaborating with federal government towards controlling and preventing spread of the disease the same they did in addressing the security challenges in the state.
“In view, we are advising those that are part of inclusive government from the opposition parties to be mindful of their utterances capable of jeopardizing the good working relationship between the state and the federal governments as they have been partners in progress”, the statement has warned.
