Residents of Wanzamai village in Zamfara State are working round the clock to raise the fund placed on them as ransom by the armed bandits.
It could be recalled that, on Wednesday some group of bandits abducted about (80) people from Wanzamai area as a reprisal against the killing of their members by the security forces in the area.
Last two nights they placed a ransom of (N20,000) for each of the (85) person abducted and insisted that the money had to be paid before they can release the abductees.
The total amount requested from the relations of the abductees is put at (N1,700,000) one million seven hundred thousand naira only.
They also stated a condition that the government had to withdraw the soldiers stationed in that area as a condition for releasing the abductees.
Though Zamfara Commissioner for Security through the analyzer newspaper insisted that the bandits cannot threaten the government over the security arrangements made to secure the people.
One of the family members who has about eight of his relations in the hand of the bandits said his family members are working harder to raise the sum of (N160,000) for the release of the eight members of his family.
He told this medium that other family members within Wanzamai are also mobilizing fund to meet the demands of the bandits.
