Members of Zamfara State House of Assembly have considered the report of the house committee on finance and appropriation on the downward review of the 2021 budget appropriation.
The Acting Chairman of the committee Shamsu Hassan Basko who delivered the report on behalf of the other committee members said, after due diligence on the economic realities as it affect the state, his committee has decided to recommend for the downward review of the state budgetary appropriation from N126, 775 000. 00 to N117, 575, 400, 000, 00.
According to the statement by the house Spokesperson Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, the budget was reviewed downward by a difference of twenty-five billion naira and that the decision was reached by his committee after consultation with ministries of finance, budget, and board of internal revenue services.
He said part of the recommendations of his committee is for the government to evolve more alternative ways of sourcing revenue and block all leakages to ensure speedy implementation of the budget.
After deliberation on the report, the members agreed and passed the review to law.
Speaker of the House Nasiru Muazu Magarya commended the committee for being thorough with the review and promised that the house would always work toward passing citizen oriented budget
