ZMSG EXPENDS OVER N1.8B FOR THE 2022 RAMADAN FEEDING/WELFARE

Governor of Zamfara state Bello Muhammad Matawalle said, considering the skyrocket increase in the prices of commodities due to economic crises facing the country, the government expended over N1.8 billion Naira in the procurement of food items for distribution to the various categories of people in the state.

The Governor who stated this in an address via a video clip released by one of his new media aides on Saturday said, as usual his administration remain committed in bringing relief to the citizens of the state.

“This year, government decided to double its effort in supporting the lives of the people during the month of Ramadan”.

The Governor who stated the accurate figure expended for this year’s Ramadan assistance said, his government has expended the sum of N1,818, 219 for the procurement of assorted food items for distribution to the people during this holy month of Ramadan.

The Governor further said the money was used in the procurement of 125,701 bags of assorted food items including Rice, Beans, Maize, Millet, Guinea corn, Sugar, cooking oil and milk.

The Governor further said this is in addition to 40, 000, number of clothes provided for distribution to the people.

Breaking down the gesture Governor Matawalle said, there are 21,083 bags of rice, 14, 264 bags of sugar, 10,491, bags of millet, 6, 991 bags of maize, 9,206 cartons of milk, 22,590 gallons of cooking oil and 1,076 bags of beans.

The Governor further explained that the government has made arrangements for the commencement of Ramadan feeding in all the Jumu’at mosques across the fourteen local government areas of the state.

He also stated that the usual Ramadan feeding in all the designated 2,526 polling units across the state will proceed as usual.

He added that he has already met with all the Jumu’at prayer mosque Imams and modalities for the commencement of the feeding has been set up.

He thanked individuals and groups who have been supportive of the people during the holy month of Ramadan and encourage them to sustain the gesture as it attracts multiple rewards.

“We will use the previous experience in the distribution of this year’s Ramadan gesture; hence the government will not allow anyone to found wanting in the exercise”.

He urged people to pardon others and extend the hand of friendship and take it often that it’s Allah who give leadership to whom he wishes and that there is no other state than Zamfara state.

“Majority of us if we are not in power we have the option of moving out of the state, but the people of Zamfara remains in the state no matter what. We shall fear Allah and do the right thing in the overall interest of the people of the state” Matawalle added.

He urged Muslims to take the lessons of Ramadan in praying for God almighty to bring solutions to the multiple problems confronting the entire Northern Nigeria.
