Members of Zamfara State Executive Council have on Wednesday unanimously resolved to set up Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate allegations of gross mismanagement of public resources by the officials of the previous administration of former Governor Abdulazeez Yari.
Briefing news men at the end of the State Executive Council meeting, State Commissioner for Information Sulaiman Tunau Anka said, the council was worried over high number of abandoned projects and inflated contracts awarded by the previous administration.
He said the commission will soon be constituted and all allegations would be fully investigated in the overall interest of the people of the state.
He also said a petition was written to the Inspector General of Police to investigate allegation of diversion of 37.4 billion naira promisory note from the Federal Government but sold to United Bank for Africa UBA by the former government of Yari at a suspecious discount rate.
He also explained that, council resolved to investigate allegation of inflated contracts awarded to contractors at the State University Talatar Mafara noting that, all contractors are to be invited to brief the government on what was paid to them and at which level.
