Suspected bandits on Saturday launched an attack on the residents of Rogoji village of Bakura town in Zamfara state and killed three persons outrightly.
The attackers came from the outskirt of the town in the broad daylight and laid ambush on the members of vigilante who mobilized to defend the local farmers who were working on their respective farms.
A source informed this medium that, the vigilantes was intimated to offer protection to the farmers who were threatened by the bandits never to go to their farms for farming.
It was alleged that some suspected informants likely called to inform the bandits about the arrangements made by the vigilantes and they laid ambush on them where they succeeded in killing three out of the vigilante operatives.
In retaliation by the people of Bakura they mobilized and set ablaze all the temporary makeshift structures set up by some IDP’s around the town.
The source alleged that, the IDP’s were alleged to be harboring both informants and some suspected bandits who take advantage of the temporary settlements to cause serious hardship to the people.
Earlier than the Saturday’s attack, it was alleged that the bandits had offered serious warning to the locals in Bakura that they would not be allowed to access their farms this year.
