The Zamfara State Commandant of Community Protection Guards (CPG) Col. Rabiu Garba Yandoto (rtd) has confirmed to the BBC Hausa service on Wednesday through an interview that they have open investigation to ascertain the circumstances behind the murder of an Islamic Cleric Liman Musa Abubakar Mada.
He stated that all the members of the CPG based in Mada district have been invited for questioning and that the real investigation will begin.
He reaffirmed that the rules of engagement did not empower a member of the CPG to take the law into his hand, even under the circumstances where he arrested a suspect.
According to other sources, this medium reliably gathered that the people who came and picked the late cleric were dressed in the uniform branded for the members of the CPG in Zamfara.
Some moments after they left with him to an unknown destination, his dead body was found in cold blood.
He was allegedly slaughtered to death by these suspected group of unknown people.
It was also reliably gathered that when these people suspected to be members of the CPG from Tsafe area came to Mada to meet with their colleagues from Mada before they collectively approached the cleric.
On whether they are members of the CPG or bandits, only investigation can establish that.
