The national association of road transport owners (NARTO) has assured that it will no longer allow the public to be intercepting their trucks along the highways of Nigeria and be stealing food items illegally.
The National President of the association Alh Yusuf Othman who spoke with the BBC Hausa service on Tuesday insisted that attacks on their trucks by hungry Nigerians is becoming alarming.
He said the association will no longer fold its hand and allow criminals to be stealing food items in their trucks on the basis that the food items belongs to the government.
He insisted that the food items usually carried by their members does not belongs to the government.
He insisted that they would not stop carrying food items simply because people are hungry.
He assured that they are in consultation with other stakeholders to ensure that the situation is brought under control
