Zamfara State government has distances itself from the alleged ongoing peace accord with bandits on behalf of the federal government of Nigeria.
According to the statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Culture Munnir Haidara Kaura, the state government led by Governor Dauda Lawal is totally not happy with the attitude of some group of people who claimed that they were assigned by the government at the center to negotiate with some armed bandits in the state.
Haidara insisted that the ongoing peace accord as alleged is illegal and against the wishes of the people of the state.
“Zamfara state government is not party to it and is not supporting the move. On several occasions, His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal announced that his government has no plans to negotiate or support any peace accord with bandits operating in Zamfara state and the move is politically motivated by the enemies of the state with mission to demoralize the plans and commitment of the present administration in fighting banditry and other criminal activities in the state”.
“The state government has rejected the so-called peace accord initiative with bandits by these group of individuals and call on the public as well as security agencies to monitor and reject their movement in the state”.
“It is against the wishes of the entire people of Zamfara state and politically constituted to cause mayhem to our security agencies and the present administration of Governor Dauda Lawal”.
“The public is hereby assured that the state government in collaboration with security agencies are on top of the security situations in the state and is working tirelessly to ensure that peace returned to the state and the lives and properties of the entire Zamfara people are protected, issues of banditry has become a history in the state”.
On behalf of the state government of Zamfara Haidara extended the condolences of the state over the recent armed bandits attacks in Sakajiki, and Bilbis villages of Kaura Namoda and Tsafe local government areas of the state.
