Fifty percent of the licensed medical doctors in Nigeria had either secured another job or fled out of the country in search for better payment.
The National President of the Nigeria Medical Association, Prof. Bala Audu who made this statement insisted that only (50,000) out of the (130,000) medical doctors working in Nigeria renewed their practicing license
He lamented that medical doctors in Nigeria are working 24hrs without a corresponding compensation for their overtime.
He lamented further that in Nigeria the ratio of one medical doctor to patient is put at (1/6000) as against (1/600) ad recommended by the World Health Organization.
He stated that Doctors in Nigeria are over-stressed without due consideration for their health conditions
