Some suspected bandits allegedly conducted serial operations along Zamfara-Funtua highway and abducted dozens of passengers traveling to various locations of the country.

This was stated by Nura Ola Tsafe during a Thunder Blowers TV show on Saturday.

He stated that the bandits conducted serial operations on Friday and Saturday and dozens of people were abducted by the bandits at various locations in between Gusau- Gidan Dawa-Yandoton Daji and Tsafe local government in Zamfara state.

“Innocent people going for the annual Islamic (Maulud) were abducted by these bandits and even this morning on Saturday passengers of two commercial vehicles were abducted by the bandits in between Yandoton Daji and Kwatarkwashi” Ola added.

He also stated that some residents of Tsafe were also attacked by the bandits on Friday along Yandoton Daji-Gidan Dawa where the victims narrowly escaped as a result of the quick intervention of the military operatives.

He lamented that the return of the ugly incidents of kidnapping along Zamfara-Funtua road has become a source of worry, especially that the nation is heading toward the conduct of the general elections.

Earlier than the Saturday attack, the Police Commissioner CP Kolo Yusuf has conducted a mop up operation of the Zamfara-Funtua highway in order to further secure the road and build the confidence of the commuters plying it.

Another source from Tsafe also told this medium that, the Nigerian Police had further to the mop up operation conducted, redeployed about six police operational vehicles to help in conducting frequent surveillance of the highway with a view to securing the road.
