Some suspected bandits armed with deadly weapons had invaded Morai community in Talatar Mafara local government area of Zamfara state and killed scores of innocent people on Monday.
According to a confided source, the bandits came to the town of Morai in large number around 12:00am on Monday and went straight to some newly constructed residential quarters situated at the outskirt of the town.
On reaching the residence of one Aliyu Sarkin Fawan Morai they attempted breaking into his house before he raised alarm a circumstance that influenced them to fire a live gun-shot at him, and he instantly died.
They also shot at one other person who attempted to make an inquiry after hearing the sound of gun-shots fired at the late Aliyu Sarkin Fawa.
They entered the resident of another person, name withheld and moved him forcefully out of his home together with his wife before he resisted following them to the forest.
According to the source, the resistance triggered the anger of one of the bandits, who eventually shot him to death.
He said they later abducted (26) other persons alongside the housewife whose husband was killed during the operation.
Zamfara police command could not be reached for comment as at the time of filing this report.
