Child Protection Network a non governmental organisation based in Zamfara has called for the immediate sacking of Zamfara Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Faika Ahmad Ahmad Gusau.
State Coordinator of the network Bachiri S. Fulani Bungudu who stated this via statement issued to news men in Gusau on Friday said the report by the BBC Hausa service on Thursday is a clear indictment that the Ministry had failed in the discharge of its corporate social responsibilities.
“Children are the most vulnerable victims of the social conflict in Zamfara state and it seems the Commissioner has zero plan for the children who are the most vulnerable persons affected by the act of armed bandit activities”.
“Going by the data from the state government which stated that there are over (600,000) internally displaced persons, children occupied about 1/3 of the statistics knowing fully that every woman you see on the street of Zamfara has an attachment of between three to five children’’.
Bachiri said, the call for sack of Zamfara Commissioner for Humanitarian affairs by the network became important considering the level of hardship the IDP’s have been subjected to and the in ability of the ministry to came up with a master plan that will show all the stakeholders the direction of the government regarding humanitarian crises and management.
The Coordinator has also accused the commissioner of refusing to create synergy and collaboration with relevant stakeholders esoecially the NGO’s so that collectively they can put hands together to manage the social conflict.
He said unless the Governor has taken the bold step of sacking the commissioner for humanitarian affairs and replace her with someone who is capable the entire world would not take him serious about managing humanitarian crises.
