Zamfara state High Court presided over by Justice Bello Muhammd Shinkafi has adjourned its proceedings in respect of the case instituted by the dethroned Emir of Maru Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ibrahim to November 27, 2020.
The Presiding Judge adjourned the case for ruling on the application filed by the applicant’s Counsels seeking for the substitution of the Assistant Director of the State’s Security Service with the State’s Director.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the Court’s session, the Counsel to the former Emir, Barrister Abubakar Aliyu Salisu said the suit was initially instituted at the Federal High Court Gusau before the presiding judge decided to transfer it to the state High Court for determination.
He stressed that ” We have already filed a motion for amendment because in the earlier case we had the Assistant Director representing the state security services instead of the Director”.
“So we now filed a motion for amendment in respect of that name for substituting the 5th respondents, the application was moved and was not opposed by the counsels to all respondents in the matter and based on the development, the matter was adjourned for ruling on the 5th of December 2020” Abubakar Aliyu added.
It could be recalled that, the dethroned Maru Emir, Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ibrahim has taken the state government and five others to court seeking for N6.5 billon damage for breach of his fundamental human rights when he was detained in Government House for eleven months.
