Suspected gunmen invaded Yanbuki community in Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state on Thursday, killed several number of people and abducted women and children.
According to an eyewitness who claimed for anonymity said, the gunmen came to the village around 12:00pm on Thursday, started shooting sporadically and shot at anyone sighted.
He said the attack left behind seven (7) people dead while the gunmen abducted over fifteen (50) person’s including women, children and aged ones.
He said one of his biological brother by named Abdullahi was among those killed as he was shot on both the head and chest.
He also said, the wives of his brother who was killed were among those kidnapped by the gunmen.
On whether the people of Yanbuki community have been able to call the security agencies for intervention, he said it was not possible due to shut down in the communication network.
Zamfara State Police spokesperson SP Shehu Muhammad confirmed that two person were killed during the Yanbuki attack while seven (7) person’s not fifty (50) were abducted by the gunmen.
He said the Police Commissioner has deployed adequate number of armed personals to ensure that normalcy has been restored.
