Governor Bello Matawalle has received the newly deployed Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone (10) Mr. Sani Bello who paid him a working visit at the state government house Gusau.
According to the statement by the Press Secretary to the Governor Mal. Jamila Iliyasu Birnin Magaji, the Governor assured the AIG of his administration’s readiness to work with the security agencies to bring a lasting peace in the state.
Birnin Magaji said, while thanking the AIG for the working visit the Governor reminded him of the enormous challenges ahead of him, especially that his areas of coverage comprises Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara are the worst affected regarding armed banditry.
“ Bello Matawalle called on the Nigerian police Force to provide enough logistics that include operational vehicles, gadgets, fighting trucks and other support to Zamfara State” Jamilu added.
The Matawallen Maradun who briefed the new AIG on the scenario behind the emergence of armed banditry and how his administration inherited it from the previous administration in the state, said he is making sustained efforts to end the menace of banditry and other criminal activities with the support of security agencies.
He commended the Federal Government and President Muhammadu Buhari for their committeemen in tackling the monster of terrorism in the country.
Earlier, the AIG said, he was in Zamfara State to pay a courtesy visit on the Governor and to inform him of his new assignment as the new AIG in charge of Zone 10.
The AIG said part of the motive of his visit is to familiarized himself with police formations in the state and encouraged the officers to discharge their statutory duties in line with the global best practice.
The visit was attended by the speaker Zamfara State House of Assembly Nasiru Muazu Magarya, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, former state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Muktar Ahmed Anka, Commissioner of Police Zamfara State, CP Ayuba El-kana, some members of the State Executive Council, senior Government officials and other senior police officers.
