Zamfara State Government has announced that, it will embark on massive rehabilitation and reconstruction of 23 government secondary schools across the state
The State Commissioner for Education Ibrahim Abdullahi Spirow who announced this during a TV Show programme of Thunder Blowers said, the schools were identified when the current administration conducted a tour of public school facilities across the state.
He said, the deplorable conditions of the 23 schools identified calls for rapid response by the state government hence the Governor has already approved the commencement of the project with a view to giving the school a befitting new look.
He added that with the recent abduction of students at the neighboring Katsina state, his ministry will now develop a road map that will lead to the provision of perimeter fence for all the government schools across the state.
Concerning the state government partnership with the security agencies, the Commissioner said, his ministry in collaboration with the ministry for security and home affairs have been observing things as they relates to the development in Katsina State and that more steps would be taken to ensure the safety of the children in public schools.
He also said, his ministry is also going to meet with private school operators with a view to reviewing their strategies for the safety of the students under their custody
