Zamfara State Government had spent over N1 billion naira in settlement of WAEC/NECO for students across various schools in Zamfara State.
This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Education Ibrahim Abdullahi Spirow when he featured in a TV show programme of Thunder Blowers Online News Medium “Tiryan Tiryan” on Wednesday.
The Commissioner further said the spirit of reviving education by the present administration of Bello Matawalle led to the renewal of partnership between the state government and various international development partners especially UNICEF.
He said the renewed partnership also led to UNICEF investing over 100 million naira to support the development of girl-child education in Zamfara in which the Commissioner said four pilot local governments have been selected for the purpose of the intervention.
Spirow further said the administration of Bello Matawalle has also released the matching grant for the State Universal Basic Education Board to be able to access its counter part funds for infrastructural development In most of the public primary schools in the state.
He also said, with the encouragement of the state Governor the state Ministry of Education has entered in to partnership with some educational foundation aim at accessing support for the educational development of the state.
He announced that soon the Governor will provide buses and other utility vehicles to all the over 200 public schools in the state added with fresh recruitment of new teachers to be conducted soonest by his ministry.
