The recent development in Zmafara APC has constituted a serious setback for the party ahead of the commencement of the 2023 campaign in September 29th and 30th, 2022.
Few months before now when prominent members of the party left and joined forces with Dr. Dauda Lawal in the PDP concern APC stakeholders have raised concern that the Tsunami shall be dealt with before it is too late.
For some reasons the party leadership led by Tukur Danfulani refused to see that mass movement as a threat until recently when people holding party positions begin to take honorable steps of resigning their membership for something considered to be silly, an APC Chieftain within the party hierarchy laments.
On the 31st of August 2022 a former Ambassador of Nigeria to Guinea-Conakry Captain Mai Riga (rtd) resigned his membership of the APC for reasons he declared as personal to him.
A source closer to the former Ambassador told this medium in confidence that the politician is not satisfied with the recent development in the Zamfara APC hence he claimed that things are not done well to attract the political conviction of the electorates.
He also said he was not happy with the manner Abdulaziz Yari the former Governor is handling the reconciliation issue especially that his supporters that died for him in opposing the government of Matawalle are now left to their fate.
The Secretary of the APC in Zurmi local government Hon. Nura Isah Moriki had since 24th of August 2022 tendered his letter of resignation to the State APC Chairman Mr. Danfulani through his ward Chairman of Galadima Yanruwa citing reasons of bad leadership within the Zamfara APC.
He stated that there is lack of trust among the party leaders in Zurmi local government area and he therefore has to leave.
On the 1st of September 2022 a permanent member of Zamfara Geographic Information System (ZAGIS) Hon. Ishaka Abubakar has also tendered his letter of resignation of his appointment to the Zamfara SSG and announced his eventual departure from the APC.
On the same date the Ward Chairmen for Shanawa, Hon Garba Inke Shanawa, his colleagues from Galadi ward and that of Badarawa Hon. Kabiru Ibrahim all of them from Shinkafi local government council of Zamfara tendered their letter of resignation to the Shinkafi APC chairman signalling their official exit.
Their resignation came barely few weeks after a prominent loyalists of the former Governor Yari namely: Bello Isah Almufty and Ibrahim Dangero left the APC for the PDP even though Dangero later returned back to rejoin Yari after some strategic consultation with him by the Yari camp.
On Thursday precisely few hours after he was fired by the Governor of Zamfara Kabiru Sahabi Liman one of the Special Advisers recently appointed by the Governor left the APC for the PDP and his picture with the PDP candidate of Zamfara went viral on the social media.
While Capt. Mai Riga left the party for reasons he is yet to personally declare to the public the three ward Chairmen according information gathered by this medium, left the party because they were pressurized to returned the gift of tricycle offered to them by the house reps member representing Shinkafi and Zurmi Hon. Bello Hassan.
Even though the leadership in the state refused to offer clarification on this specific allegations public were made to understand that since the APC refused to offer them same support there is no way they can reject that of the PDP federal legislator.
THE DEFECTION CONSTITUTE EMINENT THREAT TO CHANCES OF APC IN ZAMFARA
A chieftain of All Progressive Congress in Zamfara Ahmad Abubakar Maradun declared that the development within the Zamfara APC which resulted to defection of it’s prominent members is a clear indicator that the party leadership is not doing what it is supposed to do.
He said if the party executive with the status of ward chairmen are exiting the party unconditionally definitely something is wrong and the Governor need to wed into the matter before it gets out of hand.
“I am not sure the party is doing what it is expected to do because by now the party leadership at the state level should have summon emergency meeting to see to the cause root of this defection. But if they are not sensing any danger the Governor should definitely do something to save the party”.
He insisted that in the interim, the state party chairman Mr. Tukur Danfulani need to summon emergency stakeholders meeting and get to the root cause of the problem before things went out of hand.
He also expressed the need for the Governor and other critical stakeholders in the party, the likes of former Governor Yari and Sen. Kabiru Garba Marafa to urgently meet and passion out ways of stopping this kind of political movement out of the APC because it is politically injurious.
He said if donating a tricycle to the ward chairmen can influenced them to sacrifice their respective positions and party membership, certainly more needs to be done because their action is an indicator that many Ward chairmen of the APC may follow same political routes to exit the party if things continue the way they are.
PDP IS TACTICALLY FRUSTRATING APC IN ZAMFARA. (BAMANGA).
Nasiru Bamanga is a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Zamfara and he insisted that what happened in Shinkafi is just a hypothetical taste of their political strategies ahead of the 2023 election noting that, many of these strategies are going to be applied by the PDP to frustrate the APC when the campaign started proper.
He said PDP realized that, even those within the party leadership of the APC are frustrated and stated that, they are deploying more tactical strategies to win the political conscience of the APC supporters across the state.
“The APC leadership in Zamfara is confused and is not given the deserving leadership the party is supposed to be given, and we are taking advantage of the in-experience of the party leadership in the APC to build our strength as party” Bamanga added.
“If you notice very well we are moving very slowly and many people who did not understand our strategies as a party may think we are so relaxed not knowing we are consciously strategic and by the time we came out in full force you will hear about “THE BIGGEST POLITICAL TSUNAMI” that will occur within the Zamfara APC”.
“Take a simple notice of what happened with the Mamuda in 2011 it was the same deliberate refusal of the former Governor to be responsible for the political development in the state that gave the ANPP the offer hand to defeat him hands-down, and I am telling you history can never be dead” Bamanga added.
THE PARTY WILL WORK TOWARD RESTORING SANITY
The party Publicity Secretary in Zamfara Malam Yusuf Idris in a reaction to the recent development within the party stated that, APC Zamfara is still intact and waxing stronger while developing new strategies to build the confidence of its teeming supporters.
He pointed out that the recent speculations that some members have left the APC will remain as such because the APC is yet to receive any formal letter over the defection of its members.
He said even the supposed letters making the rounds in social media were not signed by anyone, which he said is a nullity invalidating their original status.
Idris maintained that the APC will continue to receive members from the PDP and other opposition parties in the state hence people believe in the manifestation of the party and the successes it decided the over time.
He explained that a party like PDD whose leadership and members are in disarray cannot burst of making any impact in state like Zamfara where APC is making giant stride.
“For a big party like APC you cannot rule out chances of having interpersonal differences but not withstanding the party is meeting to look in-ward to the emerging development” Idris added.
Furthermore, he said the aggrieved members would surely come back to their base when certain issues are cleared and soonest, they will announce their return to the party.
“Governor Matawalle has done more than enough for the party leadership, and the executives of the party from state to local governments and wards can testify to the commitment of the Governor in that regard. The KEKE NAPEP issue they are raising is just imagination of the opposition because the Governor has done more to his party officials than donating Keke Napep.
