About 33 million Nigerians are to suffer a cute hunger due to shortage of food in 2025.

This is contained in a joint report by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and United Nations which was released recently.

The report says these 33 million Nigerians will face the crises of shortage of food as a result of series of crises that refuse to allow substantial farming in 2024.

Nigerians have suffering from skyrocketed increase in the prices of food stuffs added with serious hardship, a circumstance that influences some of them to join the nationwide hunger protest in August this year.

The joint reports by the UN agencies such as the FAO, WFP and their counterparts in Nigeria had indicated that, there is likely going to be a sharp increase of about 1/3 of people that are to suffer from the shortage of food next year compared to the experiences in 2024.

The report cited some reasons for the 2025 hunger projection to the stringent economic measures adopted by the Tinubu administration, which pushes plenty of farmers out of their farms.

The measures according to the report include abrupt withdraw of petrol subsidy and devaluation of the nation’s currency.

The report added that 26 states in Nigerian and FTC are to suffer this projection with about 33 million of their population to be directly involved.
