TRYING DAYS FOR PEOPLE OF SOKOTO AS BANDITS EXTEND DEADLY ATTACKS TO ZAMFARA AND KEBBI

All may not not be well with several communities around Isa and Sabon Birni Local Government areas of Sokoto as suspected gunmen armed with deadly weapons launched several attacks along the areas leading to death of yet to be confirmed number of people with several others critically injured. 


According to the findings by Thunder Blowers Online News Medium who visited Shinkafi where majority of the displaced persons from Sokoto are taking refuge, the issue started on 6th July 2020 as a result of the aerial bombardment of bandits hideouts along the borders of Sokoto, Zamfara and katsinaNigeria by the operatives of the Nigerian airforce, a reliable source told this medium. 

It was also reliable gathered that, the operatives of the Nigerian Air force were able to dispersed the bandits through the aerial surveillance but they later regrouped and launched attacked against civilian population of Isa and Sabon Birni Local Government areas of Sokoto state putting hundreds of families across several communities in the area  in to serious panicking. 


As at the time of filing this report, there is no confirmation of the actual figure of the number of the people that were killed in the multiple attacks but a source confirmed to BBC Hausa service that at least 7 people have killed at the first instance and two more were also killed the following morning of Wednesday while trying to go back and packed their belongings. 


It was also confirmed that, some number of innocent civilian population have been abducted by the suspected bandits. 


Thunder Blowers has authoritatively confirmed that, the bandits barricaded Isa-Sokoto road on Thursday to stop the referral of those critically injured during the attack. 


The attack also led to the displacement of people from the following Communities of Bafarawa, Kamarawa, Gebe, Arume, Kagara, Sabon Birni Kamarawa and Dan Adama all in Isa and Sabon Birni area of Sokoto State. 

Currently residents from these communities are taking refuge at Gidan Gona Shinkafi, Custom Wherehouse, Shanawa and Mai Tundu Prinary school. 


As at yesterday fleeing residents confirmed to Thunder Blowers that there are no security agents deployed to the affected areas apart from airforce jet that fled the airspace of Shinkafi, Isa and Sabon Birni.

In a related development, similar attack was launched along Zamfara State borders with Kebbi near Wasagu where residents informed news men that close to 8 people have been confirmed dead with scores of women abducted.
Though in an interview with BBC Hausa on Thursday, Zamfara State Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs Abubakar Muhammad Dauran said they are yet to ascertain whether people were killed or not and that they have not officially receive the report that women were abducted in the attack. 

He said security operatives have been deployed to restore normalcy in the affected areas. 
Similarly another attack by some suspected armed bandits led to the killing of a traditional ruler from Fakai in Kebbi State. 

Part of Fakai local government partly shared birders with Zamfara State through the Dansadau axis of Zamfara.
