In a swift reaction to the allegations by Zamfara Cycle that he has refused to release the sum of N7m for the commencement of screening of Zamfara students for scholarship, Zamfara Finance Commissioner Rabiu Garba said the refusal to release the money was as a result of the ongoing strike action by the ASUU.

Rabiu Garba who spoke exclusively to Thunder Blowers said, “there is no way screening of Zamfara students can be done while Universities are under lock and key due to the ASUU strike action noting that, as soon as the strike ended and universities resumes, the approved N7m will be release for the exercise to commence”.

He said if the essence is to get accurate data of Zamfara students, the exercise cannot be conducted when universities are under strike and that it was a consensus that the exercise should be conducted when students are in campus.

“We advised the Governor that the release of the money (N7m) should be suspended till when Universities open and the Governor agreed” the Commissioner added.
