ZAMFARA DEP. GOV. ATTENDS MEETING ORGANIZED BY BOUNDARY COMMISSION

Zamfara State Deputy Governor Sen. Hassan Nasiha has attended a one day town hall meeting organised by the National Boundary Commission in Sokoto.

According to a statement by the Spokesperson of the office of the Deputy Governor Babangida Umar the Deputy Governor was joined by his colleague from Sokoto Mannir Daniya who doubled as the Chairman of Sokoto State Boundary Committee.

Zurmi said The Deputy Governor of Sokoto State in a remark during the opening of a one day meeting expressed the readiness of the Sokoto State Government in supporting the National Boundary Commission to resolved all pending Boundary disputes.

The Sokoto Deputy Governor expressed concern that despite effort made previously to get these issues of boundary disputes resolved, the border conflicts in Nigeria remain unresolved.

Mr. Daniya called on the participants to contribute positively toward coming up with suggestions that will assist in resolving the lingering border crises.

He also called on the officials of the National Boundary Commission to explore options to be proposed by the stakeholders and apply them in resolving the lingering conflict.

Sen. Hassan Muhammad Nasiha who is the Chairman of Zamfara Boundary Committee commended the National Boundary Commission for initiating the interface.

Zurmi said, Nasiha narrated memory lane how Zamfara was created out of Sokoto and currently shared borders with Isa/Shinkafi, Zurmi and Maradun, Rabah/Maradun/Bakura, Tureta/Bakura/Bukkuyum and Anka, Tambuwal/Gummi, and Kebbe/Gummi.

Senator Gusau appreciates the existing cordial relationship that exists between Sokoto and Zamfara since the artificial separation upon the state’s creation in 1996.
