The Governor made the pledge on Tuesday at the formal flagged off of the construction of Sankalawa rural road by the State Ministry for Rural Development and Cooperative under its new programme “Rural Access and Marketing Project”, an agency set up by the Matawalle led administration which is aimed at boosting the economic wellbeing of rural dwellers.
In a statement signed by the Governor’s Director General on Public Enlightenment Media and Communication Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau said, Governor Matawalle emphasized that, opening up of rural roads will allow for smooth transportation of agricultural products, enhance inter-community relations and boost rural and commercial activities.
He said the construction of the long-awaited Dan Marke – Kanoma road, with a spur to Ruwan Doruwa and the constructing of Gidan Goga – Maradun and Dosara Maradun roads have since commenced while the state government is concurrently executing Mada – Ruwan Bore road .
The Governor noted with keen interest that his administration will not hesitate to release matching grants to any development partner or government agencies that is willing and ready to assist Zamfara State.
On this new project, the Governor revealed that his government has already met its own obligations with the payment of counterpart fund to the tune of 200 million naira, the formation of state Project Management Committee and also allocated utility vehicles to the programme,
