Zamfara State Police Commissioner Ayuba Elkana has embarked on assessment visit of the security situation in all the tertiary institutions in the state.
According to the statement by the police spokesperson, SP Shehu Muhammad said the purpose of the visit is to enable the CP and his tactical commanders to access first-hand information about the security situation in the tertiary institutions across the state.
The institutions visited included Federal University Gusau, Federal College of Education (Technical) Gusau, School of Nursing and Midwifery and Zamfara College of Arts and Science Gusau.
Shehu said, beside assessing the existing security arrangement by the institutions visited by the police commissioner, the purpose of the visit was to further boost the confidence of both the the lecturers and students while in campus.
While assuring the management of the institutions of the police readiness to ensure that all tertiary campuses in the state are secured, he urged them to sent early warning signal to allow for quick response by the police and other security agencies.
Shehu said the visit would be extended to other tertiary institutions in the state.
