ZAMFARA RECORDED 1,134 CASES OF HUMAN RIGHT VIOLATION IN 2022

A total of 1,134 cases of human Rights violation were so far received in Zamfara from January to December 2022.

This was disclosed by the State Coordinator of National Human Right Commission in Zamfara Mr. Abdullah Abubakar in Gusau on Monday.

Mr. Abdullahi said so far out of these cases 70% have been closed, noting that the dignity of human individuals have been violated since the beginning of armed banditry in the state.

He noted further that the act of banditry and its resultant effects has forced thousand of innocent people in Zamfara out of their homes.

He said considering how the dignity of women and children has been violated since the beginning of the armed banditry in Zamfara the state has been joining the rest of other stakeholders to show solidarity for violence against women and children who are worst affected by this ugly development.

He added that the National Human Right day was set aside for introspection on the values of Human life, dignity, equality, and freedom of all human beings regardless of peculiar circumstances through race, tongue, and skin.

He further stated that, theme of 2022 human rights day is “Dignity Freedom and Justice for All”.

Mr Abdallah added that, freedom of expression and that of association, right to elect and be elected, respect for journalists have become the backbones of survival of democracy.

But he noted that with the assent of the Child Right Bill into law by Governor Bello Matawalle, progress would surely be recorded.

“A lot needs to be done to elevate the living standard of our citizens through the observation of fundamental human rights of all”.

He also commended the effort of the state government of Zamfara Bello Matawalle for allocating them land for the construction their permanent secretariat in Zamfara.
