The Chairman of the Governing Board of Zamfara State Zakkat and Endowment Board Prof. Kabiru Umar Jabaka has accused the state Commissioner for Religious Affairs Malam Tukur Sani Jangebe of short-changing the report of the committee that investigated the ongoing crises at the board.

The Chairman who raised the alarm at a Radio Nigeria Pride FM programme “Turbar Dimokaradiya” on Thursday alleged that, the summary of the committee report presented by the Commission is not the true reflection of the position of the committee members adding that the Commissioner for reasons best known to him changed some of the findings and recommendations without consulting majority of the committee members.

“We have contacted over 80% of the committee members they have all expressed surprise at what the Commissioner presented as the findings and resolutions of the committtee.

On the issue of membership of the board for instance, Prof Jabaka said it was ridiculing for the Commissioner to inform the Governor that the number of board members he constituted for the board has exceeded what the law establishing the board provided nothing that, it is assume the Commissioner is trying to portray that Governor does not understand the  provision of the law regarding constitution of governing board members of the board.

He also raised concern on the manners at which the Commissioner challenged the Governor that those appointed at the board do not have clear knowledge of the Islam regarding Zakkat operations noting that majority of those in the board are more knowledgeable and vast than the Commissioner.

He warned that, the Commissioner should not use whatever mission he has to jeopardize the integrity and status of the office of the Executive Governor adding that the decision of who should be on the board or not clearly lies with the Governor.

He called on the Governor to not to accept what the Commissioner presented as the committee report/recommendations saying it does not reflect the clear picture of the committee members as claimed by majority of them.
