Zamfara State Government has reaffirmed it’s committment to re-introducing common entrance examination for the graduating primary six students of both public and private primary schools in the state.

Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board Aliyu Abubakar Maradun stated this during a Stakeholders interactive session in Gusau.

“We realized that because we have stopped conducting common entrance examination some of our graduating class six students are not able to access the Federal Government Unity Schools” The Chairman added.

“We have resolved with the SBMC and other stakeholders at the session that conducting the common entrance examination for our graduating primary six students must be re-introduced”.

The interactive session also raised concern on how private individuals have taken over substantial part of lands belonging to public schools and resolved that, trees should be planted across all the schools borders so that the crises of land encroachment can be minimized.
“Stakeholders at the interactive session had observed with dismay how schools are being encroached by some priviledge persons and we have resolved that since we cannot fence all our schools we should embark on massive tree planting to secure our schools from encroachment” the Chairman added.

The meeting also commended the effort of the State Universal Basic Education Board and other stakeholders for their effort in sustaining the e-learning/teaching in both Zamfara Radio and NTA Gusau hence it has helped keep the students at home abreast of the reality of reading during Corona Virus pandemic.

The interactive session featured critical Stakeholders including members of School Base Management Committee(SBMC), Education Secretaries, and owners of private schools as well as representative of the UNICEF.
