Some suspected gunmen armed with deadly weapons invaded a divisional police station in Bungudu local government area of Zamfara state on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred after the gunmen arrived at the police station and started shooting sporadically.
The police officers on duty, having realized that the gunmen were on strike, they alternatively resorted to hiding inside the roofing of the station for fear of being shot by the gunmen.
Unfortunately, one of them missed a step and fell on the floor, a circumstance that scared the gunmen to run away for fear of the unknown.
Unluckily for the police, they lost one of their officers, Inspector Nura Birnin Tsaba was fired inside a police patrol van.
A source also confirmed that the bandits had taken away the rifle belonging to the late police man Nura Birnin Tsaba.
It could be recalled that a few months back, another set of gunmen attacked policemen on patrol a few kilometers from the same police station, killed scores of them and moved away with their rifles.
In a related development another sets of bandits allegedly invaded Boko village in zurmi local government area of Zamfara state.
Report indicated that they have killed one person and abduct six women in the course of the attack.
Effort to reach out to the police spokesman ASP Yazid Muhammad for comment was unsuccessful as at the time of filing this report.
