GOV. MATAWALLE ISSUES INSTRUCTION ON PAYMENT OF SALARY TO CIVIL SERVANTS.
Governor Bello Matawalle has instructed the state ministry of finance to henceforth ensure that no state civil servant is paid salary until his commissioner of permanent secretary has cleared his name for payment.
The Governor was speaking when he hosted his commissioners, Special Advisers and chairmen of boards and parastatals in his resident for Ramadan breakfast (Iftar).
He also observed that the state civil service is bloated with absentee staff who are drawing in excess of government resources that could have been channeled into developmental projects.
According to the Governor’s Spokesperson, Mal. Zailani Bappa said, “Governor Matawalle noted that appointees in Government are lagging in meaningful contribution to addressing security challenges in the state while the civil service is full of anomalies that effectively render it as resource guzzler without commensurate returns”.
“I wonder how a political appointee will shun his people at the grassroot by being incommunicado while bandits have informants all around to have an upper hand on us”.
“I employ you to have your telephones accessible to all your people so that we can effectively monitor what is happening at the grassroots as it happens or evens before it happens. It is our duty to listen to them at all times, especially on issues that border on security”, Governor Matawalle ordered.
