The APC gubernatorial candidate for Kaduna state in the forthcoming 2023 election Sen. Uba Sani has called on the 36 state Governors to come together and meet the President over additional extension of time on the new naira notes swap.
Uba Sani who stated this in an interview with BBC Hausa service, said Governors should be reminded that, they are responsible for security management of their respective states and as such they need to come in unity and approach the President so that he can be briefed on the real security situation of their respective states.
“They need to come together and appealed to the President Muhammad Buhari. The CBN Governor cannot interfere in the monetary policy of the country without the approval of the President, so he needed to be contacted and briefed on situation of things as it relates to the states”.
When asked about the ten days extension as announced by the CBN Governor, Sen. Uba Sani said ten days extension is not enough hence even those Nigerians who are opportune to access the banks could not be paid the new naira notes; hence they are not available.
“We at the level of the National Assembly are making effort to ensure that the time has been extended to six months. Our role is to meet agreed on resolution and advise the executives . We have relates the popular views of the people we are representing and it seems the state assemblies also have to begin to lend their voice on the matter” Sen. Uba sani added
