It was a serious confusion as the returning officer for Bukkuyum federal legislative seat, Prof. Kabiru Abdullahi declared the result of the Federal constituency as inconclusive.

The election was keenly contested between the serving member of the Federal House of Representative, Sulaiman Mohd Gummi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Ahmad Usman Gummi of the All Progressive Congress, the (APC).

The candidate of the All Progressive Congress scored (13,789) votes, while that of the People’s Democratic Party scored a total of (12,397) votes in Bukkuyum.

As for Gummi Local government, All Progressive Congress scored (21,022) votes while the People’s Democratic Party scored (22,413) votes.

A total of (4,738) votes were declared as canceled votes by the presiding officer during the collation.

So far, results of eight poling units are awaited as fresh elections would be conducted in the poling units to determine the winner.

The result warranted for the INEC returning officer, Prof. Kabiru Abdullahi not to declare the result; hence there are eight (8) poling units where election was canceled due to serious irregularities.

The Independent National Electoral Commission is awaiting to announce another date for the re-run election in the eight poling units declared earlier.

Now the onus lies with the voters to determine who wins the eight poling units in contention at a date to be fixed by INEC.

Buhari Ibrahim a supporter of All Progressive Congress in Bukkuyum said since the election was declared inconclusive, his party, the APC will regain the poling units with a wide margin.

He said the poling units were already won by the APC but some PDP thugs generated a crise to allow room for a re-run election but noted that, APC will act very stronger to regain its votes.
