Zamfara State House of Assembly has set up two separate committees to investigate the circumstances of the non-payment of salary to civil servants in the state.
This followed a motion moved by Hon Shamsu Hassan Basko representing Mafara North on the floor of the house on Tuesday.
Added to this development, Thunder Blowers had written an FOI letter addressed to the Speaker of the state House of assembly on Monday raising substantial issues that required inquiries by the members of the state House of Assembly.
Mr. Basko lamented the extent of the hardship encountered by the civil servants as a result of the alleged ongoing verification exercise.
He urged the house to as a matter of urgency set up a committee to investigate the circumstances under which the civil servants were denied salary, inclusive of those from the local government and staff under the state universal basic education board.
The motion was seconded by Hon. Faruk Dosara and Hon. Nasir Maru.
After extensive deliberation, the members instructed the house standing Committee on Finance and Appropriation and that of local government to investigate the problem associated with the non payment of salaries of the state workers and report back within 24 hours.
Hon. Haliru Kuturu is to head the committee on the state civil servants, while Hon. Hamisu A. Faru is to investigate the circumstances of the crises with the local government workers.
