Zamfara State Police Commissioner CP Abutu Yaro on assumption of duty as state Police Commissioner has come up with a vision tagged “ZAMFARA FIRST” which according to him aimed at working hand in hand with the host communities to promote peace, security and safety of Zamfara State through dedication, commitment and professionalism.
The CP who declared this while addressing Journalists at the state command headquarters Gusau the Zamfara State capital thanked the IGP for deploying him to Zamfara State to work as State Police Commissioner.
Mr. Abutu said, he had come up with this new vision after careful study of the peculiarity of Zamfara security challenges which included cattle rustling, armed banditry, reprisal attacks, kidnapping, abductions, culpable homicide and to some extent farmers/herders clash.
He noted that without delay, he and his Management team had commences the review of the existing crime prevention methodologies for the state police command to meet up with the contemporary security challenges confronting the state.
He noted further that, his regime will accord priority to intelligence community policing and empower his men to embrace human security and development services with the use of diverse and multiple expertise through constant community support.
He expressed the readiness of the command to work in partnership with the state government, traditional institutions, communities and religious leaders to fight vicious criminal activities in the state.
He assured the people of the state that police operation under his watch will not condone human right violation, corrupt practices and other unprofessional misconduct noting that, his men will discharge their responsibilities in line with professional ethics and international best practice.
The CP commended Zamfara State Governor for the warm reception accorded him and assured the people of the state that his tenure would deploy a mechanism aimed at enhancing the existing security architecture inherited.
The Police Commissioner also commended the media for their tireless support and cooperation especially in educating the public on crime prevention activities often embarked by the Police in making the state secured.
He called on all stakeholders to continue to support the police especially with the release of timely information on the activities of criminal elements for prompt action.
