The factional leader of All Progressive Congress in Zamfara Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa has called on his supporters not to raise dust over the ongoing membership registration of the party in the state.
Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa who spoke through the leader of his movement Alh Surajo Garba Maikatako said the APC Yari faction has the right to go about the registration and update the way they feel is in conformity with their political beliefs and according to him that is the beauty of democracy.
This is contained in a video clip of the Marafa APC factional leader Surajo Maikatako which has gone viral on the social media.
“Whatever the other faction of the APC led by former Governor Yari is doing in Zamfara please ignore them and go about your usual activities” Maikatako told Marafa supporters.
There has been growing concern amongst some segment of APC supporters in Zamfara especially those loyal to Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa that, the Yari faction has tactically sidelined them in the ongoing membership registration and validation exercise.
Maikatako said in the video, he had wanted not to talk on the issue at the initial stage but because of the intense pressure from party supporters across 147 wards in the state he believed there is a need to address the issues for the purpose of clarity.
He said “sustaining a membership of APC as a party is not a declaration of faith and that politics is all about the people and that the people made up of the party not the other way round.
He added that based on this development supporters of Senator Kabiru Marafa in Zamfara should not panic as to what the APC Yari faction is doing.
“They have the constitutional right to do what they think is the best option for them, we also have the right to do what we think is the best option for us so there is no cause for alarm”.
Maikatako said the soonest Senator Kabiru Marafa will address the state on the issue noting that, APC especially here in Zamfara is used to breaking law and order.
Speaking on the same issue the spoke person of the Marafa political movement Bello Bakyasuwa Maradun said, contrary to the pronouncement by the leader of their political movement, supporters of Senator Kabiru Marafa in the entire (14) local government areas of the state will participate in the exercise since they are legitimate members of the APC.
Bakyasuwa further said, they are awaiting the arrival of the committee sent from the National Headquarters and as soon as they set the tune for the exercise their supporters would surely participate.
But reacting to the allegations by the Marafa faction, Zamfara State APC who spoke through one of its chieftain Abdulmalik Zubairu Bungudu said the allegations are baseless since the exercise is yet to commence anywhere in the country.
“You cannot raise baseless complaint and expect people to take you serious, the exercise is yet to commence, the national headquarters is yet to inaugurate the committees, yet someone is complaining that their members are not been registered. This is an act of senselessness” Bungudu added.
Zannah called on the Marafa supporters to come back to their senses and agreed with the reality which confirmed that APC is one in Zamfara State going by the Court of Appeals judgement which is yet to be appealed.
He wondered what Surajo Maikatako is demanding for on issue that relate to APC in Zamfara knowing fully that he has since shifted his ground to ruling PDP by virtue of his position as Permanent Commissioner in the PDP government.
He said the exercise is scheduled to be conducted across 2,516 and poling units while Maikatako is telling the whole world that he has received a complaints from 147 poling wards meaning he does not understand the entire exercise.
