The members representing Shinkafi and Zurmi Hon Bello Hassan Shinkafi has told BBC Hausa service that there are not fewer than (500) people that are currently abducted by some suspected armed bandits in Zurmi local government area of Zamfara State.
According to the Federal lawmaker, not fewer than fifty different communities were forced to embark on unwanted migration due to rampant attacks by suspected armed bandits in Zurmi local government area of Zamfara State.
He said the incessant attacks and rampant killings by the suspected group of bandits has scared many of the residents of these communities who became forcefully displaced.
He insisted that bandits strikes at his people anytime they so wished, killed and abduct for ransom.
He added that, those who refused to leave their communities faces serious intimidation and harassment from the bandits, noting that they strike at these communities at night or on the broad-day.
He insisted that Zurmi local government is suffering in the hand of the bandits and anytime one hears the news of armed bandits attacks it eventually came up with casualties.
He specifically pointed that recently bandits invaded Kanwa village in Zurmi killed (3) people and kidnapped over (30) others.
He added that in another village called Gidan Shaho also in Zurmi bandits invaded the town, killed two police officers, injured many others while the figure of those abducted is being sought for.
He stated that despite the effort put in place by the government of Zamfara State in collaboration with the government at the center, the issue of insecurity in Zamfara is becoming increasingly alarming.
He said government in all levels need to redouble commitments and renew strategies in fighting armed banditry, noting that the number of security forces deployed to his constituency as just in adequate.
He further laments that there are soldiers who spent close to ten years in Zurmi area without them being redeployed, stressing that they have become used to the environment.
He said they have reported formally that the soldiers be redeployed and allow fresh one be sent to the area.
He noted that the state government led by Dauda Lawal is making effort to secure the release of the abductees, hence (200) kidnapped victims has so far been released.
He stressed that even recently, he stood on the floor of the National assembly to advocate for the deployment of additional soldiers to secure the people of his area.
