Some suspected bandits armed with deadly weapons invaded Gorar Namaye village in Maradun local government area of Zamfara State, killing two people in the operation.
Residents reported that about 150 others were likely to be in custody of the bandits by way of abduction.
Six other innocent people were injured and are currently hospitalized.
According to a source, the bandits came to Gora community in their large number around 11:00pm on Wednesday, surrounded the town and embarked on house to house operation which lasted for some hours.
Gora Namaye is the second-largest town after Maradun the capital Headquarters of the local government, and it has been experiencing various attacks from the bandits for some years now.
During the last administration of the current Minister of State for Defense Bello Matawalle the town experienced mass abduction by some group of bandits before their released was secured.
The source added “from the information available to us, the people of the community were alerted on the movement of the large number of bandits from Sokoto forest heading toward Gora which may be as a result of sustain military operation”.
Another resident of Maradun the local government area affected insisted that one of the concern people are demonstrating about the security situation in Maradun is removal of the only Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) used by the military to repel attacks around the area.
The source stated that from the information available to them, the armored vehicle got broken and could not be fixed and return to the security personnel for constant operation.
Security agencies are yet to make official statement over the Gora incident as at the time of filing this report.
