Governor Dauda Lawal has described as unfortunate that while his administration is working harder to manage the excesses of armed bandits, some people behind the scene are busy negotiating with the bandit criminals.
The Governor stated this in an early morning TV show with the Channels TV in Abuja on Tuesday.
“While we were busy trying to manage the situation, somebody, somewhere, somehow behind our back was negotiating with the bandits.
He described as the most unfortunate that this negotiation is going on without his knowledge as the Governor of the state.
When asked if he knew the person championing the negotiations with the armed bandits replied that he knew his identity to some extent.
He insisted that when the situation gets out of hand regarding the negotiation with the bandits he said he has to seek for an audience with the President and lodge anothet complaint over the matter.
“We have all the special forces sent to Zamfara with the latest technology, but the problem is that they were given instructions not cross certain areas or boundaries“ .
The Governor emphasized his earliest position of none reconciliation with the armed bandits, noting that there had been a series of negotiations that did not yield any positive results.
“In Zamfara state there were a series of negotiations with these bandits not once not twice what happens? Nothing”.
“For God’s sake how do you begin to negotiate with the bandits at the point of weakness? You can only negotiate at the point of strength when they know that you mean business” Gov. Dauda added.
