Insisting that the election is not a war, the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has advised interested parties that the goal of the Edo State gubernatorial contest is to choose leaders who will advance development, accountability, and good governance. In order to foster an atmosphere that is favorable for credible elections, National Chairman Yusuf Dantalle urged cooperation among stakeholders and underlined the significance of peace, equity, and justice.

“To all parties involved, let us keep in mind that elections are not wars,” he remarked. Selecting leaders who will support accountability, development, and good governance is merely a democratic process.

Peace, equity, and justice must be given top priority by all parties involved. Together, let’s establish the conditions necessary for credible elections.

“I implore all parties involved to uphold democratic values, honor others’ rights, and give the Edo people’s and Nigeria’s interests top priority. I invite you to work with us to strengthen Nigerian democracy.

I urge everyone to cast a ballot in Edo State’s gubernatorial election on Saturday in large numbers and without obstruction.

Additionally, IPAC urged voters to select candidates based on their platforms, records, and leadership attributes.

The council also exhorted voters to oppose vote-buying in all its forms since it damages democracy.
“We implore you to acknowledge that the electorate’s will is inviolable and has to be respected,” it continued.

“What distinguishes democracy is that the people themselves make the decision to select leaders.

The IPAC chairman emphasized the importance of selfless service in leadership and called for the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to maintain neutrality and impartiality, as their roles are crucial in preserving the trust and confidence of the electorate. He urged political parties to prioritize the welfare of citizens over personal gain, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability in governance. The council also stressed the significance of peaceful and fair elections in upholding democratic principles.
